First exhibition by Raul Mourão in Salvador, Bahia, at Galeria Roberto Alban, MOVIMENTO REPOUSO featured ten sculptures and 34 photographs made between 2012 and 2013. The kinetic pieces invited the viewer to interact by activating the movement of the Weathering Steel structures. In turn, the photographs are the result of the artist’s observation of cities, an ongoing exercise in Mourão’s career.
“I started to take pictures at the end of the 1980s as visual notes of the urban landscape that later became the series Grades. After some time without using photography, in 2012, I started the series Timeline, made of images of the city’s landscape, its characters, objects and sub-architectures.”
