In his first solo show at Galeria Nara Roesler, in São Paulo, Raul Mourão presented a series of sculptures in steel that opened a new course in his oeuvre. The interest in movement was motivated by the encounter between the artist and the acrobats of Intrépida Trupe for the show PROJETO: COLEÇÕES, in which the group interacted with his artworks.
These are pieces that propose a new form of contemplation from the activation of the kinetic mechanism by the viewer. By starting the sculptures’ movement the viewer changes the exhibition space, adding a real tension to the environment. Moving around the artworks becomes trickier and requires a more attentive gaze.
