The exhibition’s starting point is Roberto Marinho’s Collection, consisting of about 1400 artworks gathered over the course of six decades. This show concluded a trilogy that started in the Instituto Casa Roberto Marinho’s opening. THE ARTIST’S CHOICE gathers authoral artworks by five proeminent exponents of the visual arts, engaging in a dialogue with the Institute’s collection.
Alongside artists Antonio Manuel, Beth Jobim, Cristina Canale and Waltercio Caldas, Raul Mourão was invited to select one artwork and establish a poetic conversation according to his own artistic proposal. In the words of the Institute’s director Lauro Cavalcanti, “a fundamental part of the project was having the dialogue take place according to the artists’ terms, who were sovereign in their choices.”
